YNC is happy to place the spotlight on Charlotte Burkholder.
Please meet Charlotte “Char” Burkholder, Caregiver/Care Companion for YNC. Char joined the YNC team November 2017 after responding to an ad in the local newspaper. Char was interested in working locally and found that YNC was able to offer local work with a flexible schedule. Char is known for her fun loving, energetic personality as pictured. She is living her best life on the Luther Acres Campus in Residential Living while working PT for YNC. She may be “Retired”, but she certainly is not “tired”.
Char moved to the Luther Acres campus in July of 2021 and states “I am busier now then I was 5 years ago, there is so much to do on campus, you cannot possibly do it all. I recommend everyone move to a Retirement Community”. When Char is not working for YNC, you will often find her in an exercise class, volunteering at the Campus Store, Attic Treasure, and Katy’s Grill or attending a campus activity.
Char is happily married to Alvin Burkholder and share 2 children and 3 grandchildren. Char was a stay at home mom working “odd” jobs through the years. She previously worked for a different In-Home Care Agency prior to staying home to assist with childcare for her grandchildren. Along with her In-Home Care experience, Char has 10 years of cooking experience preparing meals for Meals on Wheels.
Char expressed enjoying the flexibility of working minimum hours for YNC and having a variety of different assignments. Char’s part-time hours allows her to stay active in helping others, while providing her the freedom to enjoy her retirement. Char states “This is a great job for retired people, helping someone else while providing assistance with light task. Clients enjoy our visits for socialization while helping to put a smile on their face”.
The dictionary defines retirement as no longer being part of the workforce. Char is far from retired, between her PT hours at YNC and her volunteer hours, she is busier than ever.
