YNC is happy to place the spotlight on Melissa Brubaker.
Please meet Melissa Brubaker, Caregiver/Care Companion for YNC. Melissa will be celebrating her 4 years anniversary with the organization on 6/25/2022. Melissa learned about YNC through a church bulletin board. She was attracted to the flexibility of the position affording her the needed time with her family.
Melissa along with her husband stay busy raising their 3 children. They enjoy sports, hunting and all actitivies of life. Prior to working for YNC, Melissa was a Stay-at-Home mom managing home front duties. Melissa proudly stayed home with her children for 14 years, before seeking PT employment.
Now that her children are older, she works a flexible schedule giving her the ability to arrive home by the time the kids are home from school. This also gives her time to walk her dog. Melissa recalls, “I wanted to work about 10 hours a week, but I think I am now working around 20”.
When asked why she continued to work during the pandemic, she states “I don’t know! I wasn’t afraid, I had faith and hope things would calm down and my own personal beliefts helped me through. I also felt YNC was supportive of my personal convictions and felt the office team kept us well informed and provided us the needed supplies (PPE) to keep us safe. However, I do miss the simplicity of he pandemic, the quietness, now we are back rushing around again”.
Melissa expressed her enjoyment working with the age group YNC serves. She finds that her clients have a wealth of knowledge to offer others. “I have learned valuable lessons form those I care for and have used those lessons in my own personal life. My job is a new adventure each day, it certainly is not mundane. I enjoy the variety each day offers”.
If you are looking for work that is NOT mundane give us a call.
Congratulations Melissa on your upcoming 4 year anniversay and being YNC’s spotlight employee.
