Please meet Gloria “Glo” Shirk, Caregiver/Care Companion for YNC. Glo joined the YNC team August of 2021. Glo’s journey began back in 2018 when she attended a seminar where YNC was featured. Glo recalls learning about the organization and thought to herself ” I would like to be part of that someday”. After caring for her own parents, she feels her own personal experience is when she developed a deep desire in her heart to continue to care for others. Glo states ” I am grateful for the years of care I was able to give my parents in their later years”.
Fast forward 3 years, Glo remembered the seminar she attended and reached out to YNC to discuss caregiving opportunities. When Glo was asked what influenced her to call YNC, she states “I appreciate that YNC looks at the needs of the client and the strengths of each caregiver to create a match. I like the one on one caregiver to client ratio and the time needed to provide the required and deserved care a client desires, by lessening their “to do” list, so they have more time with family. I love getting to know client’s beyond their needs (if they are willing to share) “. Glo states” My clients bless me for allowing me in their space. What we give, we get back”.
YNC is happy to place the spotlight on Gloria. The definition of “Glow” is a steady radiance of light, “Glo” Shirk certainly exceeds the definition and is a radiant light for those she serves.
